CAF helps bring three rural areas high-speed Internet ...

The Chairman of the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), Julius Genachowski was on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremonies of three rural areas.? Douglas County and Topaz Lake in Nevada along with Alpine County in California now have access to high-speed broadband services.? Before today, these areas did not have access to any high-speed Internet connections.

Due to the great expense of installing fiber and additional copper cable in remote locations and rough terrain, many rural communities have been unable to get anyone to invest in providing high-speed Internet access.? The CAF (Connect America Fund) has changed this by providing money to help ISPs install the infrastructure to support high-speed Internet connections.
